Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming:
"WOW, what a ride !!!"

Off Track

Welcome to McCookRacing.com! Within the confines of these electron walls lies the sanctuary where each and every one of us can escape to enjoy the passion we all share. It’s a passion that for the most part can’t be put into words. Our day-to-day lives outside of these walls are but a routine. Outsiders say that they see our lips move but they can’t hear a sound. We’ve gone from there to here. Here we can dream. Here we can relive what once was the adrenaline rush of a reckless teenager. Here we can ponder the addition and subtraction of mechanical procedures involving machines of remarkable splendor. This in turn brings us back to a place where we once believed that anything was possible. Those days of innocent rambunctious immortality…damn it’s a shame that it was slowly, methodically, bit-by-bit, stolen by time. But here we have a chance to inject ourselves with serum from the fountain of youth. The gods of motocross whisper confidence into our ears while we sleep. The awakening begins. The sweet smell of castor beckons. Our tools are gathered up and a space once strewn with ‘other stuff’ gives way to our own personal heaven. Between here and there we feel the serum kick in…. a little dizzy at first, but then a clear focus overwhelms this unique breed. Rust is banished. Oil rules. Paint screams and the chrome comes home. Sparks begin to fly as trick fuel is transformed into the spewing of high revolution-per-minute decibels.

There aren’t too many things I’m sure about in this life but I do know this; Vintage Motocross and the family that goes along with it is a place that I can call home.

Cheers,
Michael
